Students at Western Washington University will gather on Election Day to track the 2026 midterm results in a dedicated, nonpartisan space. The Political Science Association is hosting the event to provide a venue where participants can view live electoral data as it is released. The group aims to create an environment focused on unbiased information and informal discussion.
The association describes this election cycle as particularly important for the younger generation. It views the event as a chance for students to research candidates and discuss the outcomes in a communal setting. The group intends to use the gathering to build a more connected campus community around the electoral process.
The watch party will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3. It will take place in Arntzen Hall 004. The program includes a predictions board formatted like bingo, allowing students to guess outcomes before the data arrives. Attendees can also spend time researching profiles of new and returning candidates.
Food and refreshments are provided free of charge to all attendees. The event organizers emphasize that the space is welcoming and open for mingling. The goal is to prioritize meaningful interactions between participants while ensuring they have access to the most accurate information available.
Eliza Hyche serves as the president of the Political Science Association. She can be reached at hychee@wwu.edu for further details. The group also maintains an active presence on Instagram under the handle @psawwu, where it shares updates about upcoming events.
