The proliferation of automated license plate readers has intensified debates over personal privacy. Benn Jordan, a security researcher, has documented a specific gap in the security protocols of one major provider.

Jordan identified dozens of Flock Safety cameras that are streaming video openly on the internet. He stated that the company uses artificial intelligence to zoom in and follow individuals as they walk. Jordan noted that this tracking occurs regardless of whether a person is a specific target of an investigation.

Flock Safety maintains that its cameras do not track people. However, the company’s own training materials show officers using the system to monitor suspects as they move from one location to another. Some camera models are designed to physically follow a person’s path.

The findings arrive as a group of four-legged companions provides support to military veterans. A recent initiative is connecting service animals with service members to help manage the emotional demands of their roles.

James Poggi, a former Marine Corps aviator, received a service dog after his wife and caregiver suggested the addition. Poggi underwent five back surgeries and a below-the-knee amputation during his service. The dog helps ease the emotional toll of his physical condition.

In the South, diabetes remains a dominant health issue. The disease is the seventh leading cause of death in the United States and the primary cause of kidney disease. An estimated 40 million people in the country live with the condition. Doctors report that the South, including North Carolina, experiences higher rates despite prevention efforts and treatment advancements.

The barbershop quartet Southern Tradition continues to perform after forming in 1999. The group consists of four men with different careers who combine their voices into a single sound. Karl Hansen, a member of the group, said the main requirement for a singer is to not be embarrassed and to keep going.
