The Atlanta Hawks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 114-111 on Thursday night at State Farm Arena to stop a three-game losing streak. The team held a late lead despite a late-game surge from Cleveland, relying on strong defensive play to secure the victory.

The Hawks entered the game following three consecutive losses over the previous week. Onyeka Okongwu led the scoring with 29 points and 7 rebounds, including four made 3-point shots. Nickeil Alexander-Walker contributed 25 points, while Aaron Wiggins added 20 points and 7 rebounds off the bench.

Cleveland attempted to close the gap in the final minutes. The Cavaliers, led by Donovan Mitchell who scored 42 points on 22 shots, mounted a 12-4 run in two minutes. This sequence reduced Atlanta's 10-point advantage to a 112-111 lead with 20.6 seconds remaining.

Mitchell took a corner 3-point shot with the potential to tie the game and force overtime following a Cavaliers rebound. The shot fell short, and Lu Dort deflected the loose ball away to conclude the game.

The Hawks maintained control earlier in the fourth quarter. Alexander-Walker hit a corner 3-pointer to give Atlanta a 98-73 lead with 2:30 left. The team then managed the clock and protected the lead against Cleveland's final push.

Columbus McCoy-Miller generated defensive effort in the second quarter, finding a layup after a pick on the right wing. He also collected a center-court rebound to complete a possession, helping establish the early lead.

The Hawks face the New Orleans Pelicans on Saturday night at State Farm Arena. They will look to build on this win and start a winning streak in the Eastern Conference.
