Central Alabama residents can expect rain to arrive late Saturday night, ending a prolonged dry spell just in time for Halloween.

Forecasts from WBRC indicate that a weakening high-pressure ridge will allow moisture to enter the Southeast over the weekend. The best chances for precipitation are currently modeled for late Saturday evening and into early Sunday morning.

The weather pattern remains favorable for earlier weekend activities. Saturday morning looks mostly dry, which aligns with the schedule for the Magic City Classic Parade. The station advises that attendees should be in good shape for the event before the rain chances increase later in the afternoon and evening.

Temperatures have been mild throughout the week. Thursday and Friday will feature cool mornings in the upper 40s to low 50s, warming into the upper 70s and near 80 degrees in the afternoon. Sunshine is expected to dominate both days with only scattered clouds.

Rain will become more widespread overnight Saturday. By early Sunday, conditions may shift from scattered showers to more widespread rain. The exact arrival time of the rain remains uncertain, but current models agree on the late Saturday into early Sunday timeframe.

Residents are advised to pack rain gear for trick-or-treating and evening games, as the rain may catch some areas before others. While the timing is less than ideal for outdoor events, the rainfall is needed after the recent dry stretch.

Looking ahead, much of the following workweek should remain dry. A potential frontal boundary may move through by the middle of next week, bringing another round of showers and a cooler air mass. Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 1, prompting residents to set their clocks back one hour.
