Trump faces 30 felonies in Sedro Woolley letter
Michael Waite argues the president's legal record and family enrichment mark a break from historical norms.

Donald Trump has been convicted of more than 30 felonies, according to a letter published in the Sedro Woolley newspaper on Nov. 2.
Michael Waite, who resides in Sedro Woolley, wrote to the editor to detail the president's legal history. He noted that Trump was successfully sued for vile acts and adjudicated as a sexual predator. Waite also cited the fact that Trump is the only president in U.S. history to be impeached twice.
Waite addressed the relationship between Trump and Jeffrey Epstein, describing Epstein as the single most prolific sexual predator. He stated that Trump enabled and possibly participated in pedophilia with Epstein. Waite argued that Trump escaped the scrutiny that would typically lead law enforcement agencies to investigate an accused predator.
The letter blamed the Department of Justice for obstructing prosecutions. Waite claimed the department withheld and redacted pertinent information because Trump appointed his personal lawyer, Todd Blanche, as attorney general. He stated that Blanche puts Trump first and the country second.
Waite criticized Trump's financial conduct while in office. He said the president and his family enriched themselves beyond the pale of any previous office holder by ignoring the values that guided predecessors for centuries. Waite asserted that no president in modern times has had the temerity to behave in such a corrupt manner.
He observed that many voters who proclaim themselves devout Christians have excused and supported Trump. Waite concluded by stating that American leaders have historically tried to rise above their basest instincts and greed, but Trump has made destroying that tradition his crusade.
