A Sedro Woolley resident argues that federal action against state voting rights demands immediate local voter response.

The Department of Justice sent threatening letters to Washington state election officers this week.
Michael Waite of Sedro Woolley wrote to the Bellingham Tribune to describe the federal action. He called the current level of corruption in the Trump administration astonishing.
Waite stated that the situation is beyond the pale. He predicted that history books will record it as one of America's low points for decades or centuries.
The letter criticized the justice department. Waite called the department corrupt and led by a sycophant lawyer. He said that lawyer should be disbarred if not prosecuted.
He noted that the department is complicit in challenging voting laws and the rights of individual states. Waite argued that this is not just a national politics issue.
Local Republicans are standing with closed mouths, hands in their pockets, and excuses, according to Waite. He said they fail to see what is obvious to any voter or citizen.
Waite described this behavior as consent to destroy American democracy. He linked it to ignorance and treasonous behavior.
He reminded readers that their vote is their weapon. Anyone not using that weapon should be suspect or derided as un-American.
Waite said it is a time with the clearest evidence that rights will go away if one does not exercise them. He urged readers to find the time or energy to make their voice heard.
The letter was dated Oct. 27, 2026.
