Donald Trump has spent the final days before Tuesday's election telling rally crowds that Democrats will impose communism on America, Sid Schwab wrote in a column published Friday, Oct. 30, 2026. Schwab, writing his last column before the vote, said Trump does not identify anything Democrats actually propose that resembles communism.
Schwab noted that Trump's government has bought shares in large corporations, calling him the closest thing to a socialist president the country has had. He also wrote that Trump has conditioned actions he described as the right thing, including compensating Marines sickened by water at Camp Lejeune, on Republicans keeping control of Congress.
The column addressed an advertisement from Vivek Ramaswamy's Ohio gubernatorial campaign. The ad features a woman who left her two children when her daughter, Amy Acton, was 12. Acton is running against Ramaswamy. The woman married the man Schwab described as having raped that daughter and left with him to avoid prosecution. Schwab wrote she had not been in contact with Acton for decades. Conservative sources confirmed Acton's account, according to the column. Ramaswamy is spending $4 million to run the ad.
Schwab wrote that J.D. Vance's objection is not to the ad itself but to Republicans who criticize it. Trump called the ad a truthful statement by a mother who knows her child, Schwab wrote, adding that this claim is counterfactual.
The column also covered Trump's rallies, where Schwab wrote he has made comments about sexual matters and sounds suggesting a need for exorcism. Schwab wrote that Trump has renamed locations, degraded or destroyed Washington, D.C. landmarks, and placed his name on buildings.
Schwab described campaign attacks on Democratic candidates, including calling Dr. Abdul El-Sayed a jihadist, raiding the home of Ilhan Omar, and criticizing James Talarico while supporting Ken Paxton, who is indicted and impeached. He also wrote that Stephen Blanche has stated his loyalty to Trump and is suing Alaska over its right to choose its own senator at Trump's direction, along with lawsuits against other states including Washington.
Schwab urged readers to use drop boxes and not rely on the U.S. Postal Service, citing what he described as Trump's attacks on voting. He also noted that ads for judicial candidates are appearing locally. The column was published at 1:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2026.
Voters go to the polls Tuesday. Schwab's email address is columnsid@gmail.com.
