Snohomish County voters reached a 31.5% turnout rate as of Friday afternoon, according to county officials. This figure compares to the 63.3% turnout recorded in the previous midterm election.
Tuesday marks Election Day for the 2026 midterms. Residents will select candidates for three U.S. House of Representatives seats and 16 state House representatives. Voters will also choose four state senators across eight legislative districts. The ballot includes races for the county prosecuting attorney, four district court judges, and a seat on the Snohomish County Public Utility District board.
Local measures are also on the ballot. Voters will decide charter amendments for Snohomish County and the city of Everett. The measure list includes bonds and levies for school, fire, and hospital districts. Statewide, voters will cast ballots on three initiatives and four Supreme Court justices.
Ballots must arrive by 8 p.m. Tuesday. Voters can use one of the county’s 38 official drop boxes to return their ballots. A map of drop box locations is available on the county website. The Snohomish County Auditor’s office advises voters to visit a local post office if they cannot reach a drop box. A postal clerk can provide a free, hand-stamped postmark to ensure the ballot is counted in time.
Residents can verify their ballot status at VoteWA.gov. The Daily Herald will publish initial vote tallies shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday. Those results will come from the secretary of state’s office. The Herald will update its coverage each evening as counting continues throughout the week.
Snohomish County will certify the election results on Nov. 24. The state will certify results by Dec. 3.
