Heidi Klum appeared in a large, bloodied prosthetic hand at her annual New York Halloween party on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
The event marks the 25th anniversary of the celebration she began hosting in 2001. Klum, a supermodel and television personality, said the costume design originated from an idea she conceived the previous year. She wanted to transform into her own left hand, complete with long red nails, a thumb ring, and her wedding band.
Klum described the creation process as a challenge, noting that the final look took five to six hours to assemble. She shared updates on Instagram earlier that day, showing the application of bloodied prosthetics to her face. Only her eyes and mouth were visible beneath the skin of the hand, with blood dripping from her lips. The top of the costume featured dangling ligaments and tendons, and Klum was assisted by helpers wearing blood-stained hazmat suits.
Klum said the costume was physically demanding to wear. “Hands down, the hardest thing is carrying it,” she stated. “It's quite heavy.” Her husband, musician Tom Kaulitz, was absent from the party because he was on tour. However, Klum incorporated a detail honoring him by including a tattoo of his name on the costume’s ring finger, alongside her palm lines and veins. “A little bit of Tom is with me,” she added.
This year’s look follows a series of elaborate costumes Klum has worn over the past two decades. In 2022, she arrived at the party on a fishing line inside a slithering worm costume, a performance that went viral. Previous years have featured characters such as Medusa, a peacock, an eight-foot-tall Transformer, a werewolf from Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video, a clone with lookalikes, and the Hindu goddess Kali.
